Family and Children Services (FCS) handles abuse and neglect cases of children and the elderly. When FCS receives information on a case, the staff examines it carefully to determine the best solution. The main goal of FCS is to help each family solve their own problems. The goal is to keep the family together and help them create a safe, loving environment.
Sometimes after examining a case, FCS will determine that outside help is needed and will ask the Juvenile Court for permission to step in and intervene. In some cases, taking the children or elderly out of the home and placing them in a new one is the only SAFE alternative.
Foster Care and Adoption Services
When children need to be removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect, they are placed in the custody of Medina County Job and Family Services. Foster and adoptive parents work with our agency to provide a safe environment for children who have been removed from their homes. Some children come into our custody due to losing a caregiver through death, illness, hospitalization or abandonment.
Foster parents provide a safe stable home while a child's family works towards reunification. If reunification is not possible, adoptive families are needed for the childr/ren.
Foster and adoptive parenting is a commitment to help a child through a difficult time. It's a job for people who can provide love, guidance, and structure.
